We’re delighted to announce our partnership with arts and mental health charity Hospital Rooms and will be providing project materials and artist support for their Digital Art School hosted at Springfield Hospital in South London.
Founded by artist Tim A Shaw and curator Niamh White, Hospital Rooms commissions extraordinary artworks for NHS (National Health Service) mental health inpatient units across the UK. Their vision is for all people in mental health wards to have the freedom to experience extraordinary artworks. We join Hospital Rooms in their belief in the power of art to provide joy and dignity and to stimulate and heal.
In 2020, Hospital Rooms began a Digital Art School to present art workshops remotely for hospitals when they could not be done in person. The artists leading these sessions have exhibited in many of the world's best galleries and have taught in some of the UK’s best art schools, including Royal Academy Schools, Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins.
A series of workshops will be presented this year that exclusively use Winsor & Newton materials; the workshops are for inpatient mental health units, as well as people accessing community mental health services and the wider public.
