Understanding Watercolour Brushes

Sable watercolour brushes are the finest choice for artists working in watercolour, they provide several benefits unique to this brush. The fine hairs have a microstructure that allows them to soak up a large amount of water. The curved shape holds a reservoir of water that is released in a controlled manner as you run it across the paper. These brushes are well suited to making specific marks and lines, as well as covering a large area. Here you can see both possibilities on our 300g cold-pressed watercolour paper. To care for your brush, simply wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth, run water through it until it runs clear and, at the end, take a thoroughly wet brush and give a sharp flick of the wrist. This will restore the point and all you need to do is place it across the top of a jar to dry and it will be ready for the next time you need it.
