Mixing | Colourful Greys

Mixing colourful greys in oils are all in the palette, and here we will be working purely with complimentary colours. When you mix them together and add white, you will create greys with a rich warm or cool hue. For example, mixing warm Sap Green with warm Cadmium Scarlett with white results in a rich warm grey. If using a darker value blue, you will find the result is darker grey, and using cool colours will result in a cool grey. Earthy greys are also interesting and can be achieved with colours such as Burnt Sienna mixed with Sap Green and white, for example. Grey can be a lively and complex mixture that will fit harmoniously into paintings that contain the component colours within them.
