Exploring Artisan Water Mixable Oils and Artists’ Oil

Artisan water mixable oil paint is chemically modified to be thinned and cleaned with water, although this range contains linseed oil. They are a great choice for artists with a sensitivity to solvents and for those working in shared spaces. The paints are thinned with water here to demonstrate how the fluidity is increased but be cautious about how much you add. As with a solvent and traditional oil paint, too much water can degrade the binder and cause the paint to separate and crack. You can also choose to use solvents with Artisan if you want a slower evaporation rate. Finally, a comparison is made between Artisan mixed with water and oil paint mixed with solvent to show the similarity in effect on the materials.
