Oils | Effects of Oil Mediums on Whites

The different qualities of artists’ oils Linseed Oil, Linseed Stand Oil, Safflower Oil and Drying Poppy Oil are examined here. The oils have different viscosities and qualities that make them suitable for a variety of purposes; all will modify consistency and drying time without thinning paint as a solvent would. With each one explained in detail and then mixed with Titanium White, the subtle shift to yellow is apparent with Linseed and Linseed Stand Oils, but not the others. This informative video is helpful when deciding which oil is right for your painting.
