About George Butler George Butler is a freelance illustrator, living and working in London. He studied Illustration at Kingston University and has exhibited in various locations in the UK including the Royal Institute of Water Colour Annual Exhibition in 2008 and 2009. It was at this exhibition in May 2009 that he was awarded the Winsor & Newton Young Artist’s Award. George Butler's Work His work predominately features location drawings of places he has visited and areas of interest to him - this includes Afghanistan, the oil fields in Azerbaijan, Marrakesh, the New York Fire Department and a plastic surgeon's theatre. A personal highlight was in September 2006 where he was invited as a guest of the 16 Brigade to draw the British Army in Afghanistan. He traveled with the army and documented the soldier's lives as they waited for war - this was a fundamental step towards developing his passion for reportage, documentation and storytelling in his work. He has also worked more recently for Rada, Descent, and Granta Magazine.
