Mark Jessett - Featured Artist

Winsor & Newton came to work with Mark Jessett during the re-launch of our Designers’ Gouache. As a friend of our design agency, we were introduced to him and were delighted and impressed by the style and quality of his work. As a result, we approached him and asked him whether he would like to be featured on our new Designer’s Gouache packaging as we felt that his work embodied the spirit and qualities of our new and improved range.

A long-time user of Winsor & Newton products, Mark works with mixed media but the style and nature of his paintings means that Designer’s Gouache is an integral part of them. This is due to the use of flat, matt and bright colours which give his paintings the vivacity he portrays. In addition, the layering of colour needs a medium which is opaque and will layer successfully while maintaining brilliance.

The new Winsor & Newton Designers’ Gouache range will soon be available and will showcase Mark’s signature work.

Mark’s Ellipses

Mark’s work features loose, elliptical forms that appear frozen in movement.  Some shapes are barely complete, while others appear solid and fully formed; they draw our attention or remain obscure. The viewer is free to imagine the pace of their movement, their origin and their demise. There is abundance, confusion, emptiness and calm, but overall there is always colour, transparency, opacity and line.
