About Tracey Jayne Thomas
Tracey Jayne Thomas has been creating art since she was a young girl. Having married she raised three daughters, continuing to draw and paint. Once the children were older, Tracey studied art, illustration and graphic design in Cornwall. It was whilst studying that Tracey first worked with acrylic.
Now living in Aberystwyth, Wales, she focuses fully on her art, creating mainly acrylic pieces on canvas, though she also works with pencil, pastel and charcoal.
Tracey Jayne Thomas's Work
For her canvas work, Tracey reaches for Galeria acrylic colour because of its rich, deep colours. She finds that the smooth finish is consistent, reliable, and gives the results she looks for in her paintings.
Tracey is fascinated by art that captures reality. Her earlier collection, 'Fire', was created by photographing fires in her garden then bringing those brief, fleeting moments to canvas. The result was a series of dramatic paintings, depicting the ferocity and beauty of the flames.
Her current project focuses upon the woodland where she lives. Her aim here is to bring to her work the emotions that the woodlands inspire. She has moved specifically towards the photorealistic, with the desire to create an illusion of reality within two-dimensional work. These close studies bring an intimacy between nature and the viewer.
