Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour

About Robert Parker
Robert Parker is an Oil Colour artist who was educated at the Dept of Fine Art, Durham University. Robert has worked under the instruction of Richard Hamilton, Victor Pasmore and subsequently exhibited extensively in the North of England. He has also exhibited widely since arriving in Somerset and has work in collections beyond the UK in Europe and the US.

Robert Parker's Work

Robert uses Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour for his work and finds the inspiration for his pieces in the South of France between the Italian border and the dept of Bouches du Rhone, the area around Aix and the adjacent Var.

Rocky arid places are a key stimulation for Robert and extra focus is given to time of day, its light values and its attendant effect on colour and form to successfully capture the imagery of the Provencal region.

Robert's recent paintings are in mixed media, a technique that involves the use of oils, a stiffened paper base, oil pastel and scorching to catch the grit and aridness of the region described in the literary works of Giono and Pagnol. Strength of colour is an essential response to the nature of the landscape.
