He is now attracting attention from London Galleries. Through exhibitions within Hertfordshire, he has built a strong client base of collectors with many commissions spreading throughout the U.K and internationally to the U.S. & Australia.
His work is also on loan to various companies in the UK for display in their premises.
Paul Robinson's Work
Paul states, "I see my paintings as complete packages that intend to captivate and please the eye. The colours, painstakingly chosen to compliment and contrast with each other, drive the impact of the subject.
The pieces are executed in several thin layers of acrylic (Galeria) culminating in a solid block of colour devoid of brush marks. I only paint subjects that I feel a certain affinity with and am therefore, during painting, continually striving for what I perceive as the perfect image.
The completed pieces are stunning paintings that easily fall into the pop art genre".
In addition to this, Paul has also been commissioned for several charity pieces that have been auctioned in order to benefit specific charities. Paul is the technical advisor for Winsor & Newton giving him a unique insight into the performance of his chosen materials.
Paul's design background drives the imagery of his work in both style and subject. Inspiration is drawn from popular culture and design. The finished pieces are a complete package of aestheticism. All Paul's pieces are graphic with the majority being figurative. He works predominately in acrylic (Galeria) on canvas, achieving perfectly flat paintings that due to colour and finish are vibrant, in some cases, to the point of virtual animation. The flatness is achieved by applying many thin layers of acrylic until the desired opacity is reached.
It is Paul's belief that the perfect image is derived from the colours and shapes employed. To this end, the materials used in his paintings are complex mixtures of colours and mediums that are designed to work with the viewer on both cognisant and subliminal levels. These techniques include running the same colour through an entire painting and relying solely on matte and gloss mediums to provide contrast, whilst maintaining a flat, uniform, singular colour surface.
