About Vjekoslav Nemesh
Born in Petrovaradin, former Yugoslavia, Vjekoslav Nemesh has been a professional working artist since 1984 and has participated in more than 150 group exhibitions and 30 solo exhibitions. Having his work held in collections throughout Europe, Russia, Britain, U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Asia, and New Zealand he has established world-wide recognition of his authentic art style.

What you see on his canvas is a result of more than twenty years of development technically and spiritually, which has drastically changed his paintings.

Vjekoslav Nemesh's Work

Vjekoslav's inspiration for his art is purely a transfer of his feelings and emotions in a specific moment onto the surface of the canvas.

"Strong emotional moments are very important in this act of creation. They may be induced with music or any other circumstances such as joy, love, anger or worry. As they become stronger my artwork becomes more creative.

If we think about physics and the structure of the atom, what the artist creates on the surface of the canvas is a whole new universe which vibrates with the energy the artist gave it in the moment of creation. In this manner the artist creates a whole new universe.

Imagine how this artwork can vibrate if either love or anger was the feeling transferred onto the canvas by the artist! Such vibrations attract people who have the same or similar feelings and thoughts. What makes a difference is when the artist during the process of creation is filled with the energy of joy and especially Love."

Twenty years back in former Yugoslavia, Vjekoslav met an artist who introduced him to a collection of Winsor & Newton colours brought directly from England. They were at least 25 years old and the artist was still using them. "I remember at the time buying one small tube and keeping it as my personal collection. It was not the type of colours you can often find on the shelves of Yugoslav art supplies. Coming to New Zealand I was amazed to see them everywhere, in book shops, the Warehouse, and of course art supplies."

Vjekoslav has now created his own personal palette of colours over the years which he is still using today and has also introduced the range to his students. Cerulean Blue, Magenta, Permanent Rose, Dioxane Purple, Cadmium Yellow Hue and Viridian Green are the most important ingredients for his paintings. "W&N colours also have a beautiful range of golden colours especially green gold. If you look at the colour itself it’s nothing impressive, but mixing it with Magenta or Cerulean Blue I have amazing effects! With purple it has dramatic results!"

Vjekoslav Nemesh uses Winsor & Newton because
...I like the texture and colour range, which are so unique to W&N. I find the same colours in other brands have slightly different hues of colour which I don't like.
