About David Shiers
I have always been interested in art from an early age, after leaving school at the age of fifteen, I started working in various studios in the Liverpool area as a serigraphia artist (Silk Screen Printer) then I progressed into the the world of Graphic Design.
I attended the college of art, Hope Street, Liverpool, for a period of four years. My final job was working for the J&C Moores Organisation as an illustrator, Graphic Designer for a period of 18 years. In 2003 I decided to go full time into painting, (I should have made the break a lot sooner.)
My work is very much influenced by the French impressionists painters whom I have admired form a very early age.
David Shiers's Work
I like to paint from life as much as possible, either as a completed piece of artwork on site, or working from sketches and colour notes etc, I always carry an artists journal pad with me where ever I go.
My style is very much impressionistic. I am always diversifying with subject matter, experimenting with light and nature. The french impressionists painters have been a great influence on my style since I first started painting. I live on the Wirral now and am working on various scenes in and around the area, with a view to exhibiting in 2011 locally.
David Shiers uses Winsor & Newton because
since an early age I have always used Winsor & Newton materials, in fact I don't think I have ever used any other, they have a unique quality all of their own.
