About Adebanji Alade
Adebanji started his interest in art from the very early age of 6 drawing his favourite football stars from football annuals and comics, like "Roy of The Rovers". Adebanji attended the Federal government College Enugu in Nigeria from 1983-89 and it is where Adebanji was encouraged to improve his drawing skills. He finished from Secondary school as the award winning final year student. From 1992-97 he attended Yaba College of Technology a renowned Art College in Nigeria where he completed his course with the most Outstanding Academic Performance. He majored in Fine Art with a speciality in Painting.
From 2003-5 he enhanced his skills in Portraiture by attending Heatherley’s School of Fine Art, Chelsea. He won the John Walton Figurative Prize and the Heatherley Award for the Student with the most Outstanding Paintings in 2005.
In 2009 he achieved further recognition and success by winning two professional artist competitions: The Artist Magazine/Royal Institute of Oil Painters and The Future Bath Plus Plein-Air Exhibition.
Adebanji Alade 's Work
He currently works from his studio in Chelsea, specializing in painting, illustration and photography. He also has a passion for sketching people on the tube and train. In all his works it is apparent he tries to convey a feeling of life, movement and energy.
