Moshe Kassirer's Work
My goal as an artist is to reignite my viewers' yearning for primordial Nature, for an innocent and pre-industrial era. The olive tree, which is the predominant theme throughout my work, symbolizes Nature's contribution to humanity and the interrelation between human beings and Earth. Many of my paintings integrate Jewish spiritual themes portrayed within the context of the biblical Holy Land, with the olive tree as a symbol of the Jewish People's survivability.
I paint in oil on canvas, as well as using natural substances that I prepare myself, similar to those used by artists in ancient times, thus striving to return to a more natural way of life in my work as well as in my daily life. I use the impasto technique with full-bodied, expressive and energized strokes, to create rich, invigorating and radiant paintings. Exactly as Nature at its best is meant to be.
Moshe Kassirer uses Winsor & Newton because
They give me a lovely variety of transparent colors. Strong opaque yellow colors that cover and vivid very well. and I know that I can trust the color to stay alive 100 years.
